Thoughtful support for occupational therapists and allied health professionals working with complexity.
Complex practice often requires more than another template, checklist or assessment tool. It requires time to slow down, examine assumptions, test clinical reasoning and consider the person’s situation from multiple perspectives.
I offer mentoring and clinical supervision to occupational therapists and allied health professionals who want to think more deeply about occupational matters and develop greater confidence in their practice.
I am comfortable working across intersecting physical, cognitive, psychosocial and neurodevelopmental conditions. I particularly enjoy helping clinicians understand what may be driving a complex presentation and how to translate that understanding into respectful, practical and evidence-informed intervention.
Clinical supervision and mentoring may include:
- Reviewing complex cases and workshopping practical strategies
- Strengthening assessment interpretation and clinical reasoning
- Identifying gaps, assumptions or competing explanations within a case
- Improving report structure, evidence synthesis and the clarity of recommendations
- Developing reports that address the referral question and support logically reasoned, defensible conclusions
- Adapting communication for clinical, funding, insurance, legal and other decision-making audiences
- Reflecting on practice and identifying professional development priorities
- Selecting appropriate assessment tools, resources and training pathways
- Translating research and clinical guidance into everyday practice
- Developing neuroaffirming, trauma-informed and person-centred approaches
- Establishing sustainable work practices that reduce the risk of burnout
- Developing small-business and sole-trader systems, boundaries and professional confidence
My supervision style is reflective, practical and direct. The purpose is not to provide all the answers, but to help you strengthen your own clinical judgement, recognise the knowledge you already hold and approach complex work with greater clarity.
