Occupational Therapy Consultancy

Independent advice for complex disability, rehabilitation, workplace and clinical matters

I provide occupational therapy consultancy to employers, insurers, self-insurers, case managers, planners, medical practitioners, allied health professionals, service providers and multidisciplinary teams.

Consultancy may be helpful when a situation has become complex, progress has stalled, information appears inconsistent or the way forward is unclear.

My role is to bring an independent occupational perspective to the case, identify the key issues and help the parties develop a more coherent and workable response.

Occupational therapy consultancy may include:

  • Consultation with GPs, occupational therapists and other allied health professionals regarding complex clinical presentations
  • Independent desktop review of clinical records, treatment history, functional evidence and barriers to recovery
  • Injury management adviser consultancy for complex injuries and long-tail claims
  • Structured analysis of recovery pathways, service gaps, risks and opportunities for intervention
  • Review and optimisation of rehabilitation and recovery pathways using recognised clinical frameworks and disability management guidelines
  • Multidisciplinary case conferencing and problem-solving
  • Clarification of functional issues, roles, responsibilities and priorities
  • Advice regarding workplace participation and reasonable workplace adjustments
  • Education and training for employers and teams supporting disabled and neurodivergent employees
  • Clinical education and workforce capability development

The outcome is clear, practical advice that helps the referrer understand the central occupational issues, test assumptions and identify realistic next steps.
